My Home Town
In Johnsonburg not much happens, with a population of 2,500 that should be expected. But on game day you can bet to see everyone in attendance ready to support the team no matter the location. My junior and senior year I was lucky enough to be part of the two most famous years in Johnsonburg High School history. Junior year our basketball team made it to the quarter finals in basketball, our wrestling team came back from a rough year and won two matches, and the legion baseball team took second in the state finals. Going into senior year expectations were high as the baseball team was ranked #2 in the state and the baseball team was #7 in the state. Not all eyes were set on the football team after coming back from a rough winless season the year before. We didn’t even expect much, but we ended with 2 wins. One of those wins happened to be against Coudersport [ranked #2 in the district]. That was the first time Johnsonburg has beat Coudersport since 1992. After football everyone’s attention went straight to basketball. We put on a good run through regular season, with a record of 22-2. The post season started and before long we found ourselves in the state finals. Unfortunately we came up short and took second. Luckily for us, we still had one more state quality team, Baseball. The team powered through regular season only dropping 3 games. To our surprise we were in yet another state finals game. This time we came out victorious taking the Pennsylvania State Title.
