Poverty

In my community poverty would be who is on food stamps and who isn’t. I come from rural Pennsylvania where it seems as if everyone has a house. Although poverty doesn’t seem to be a major problem, we’re aware of people with financial problems. In my town, residents with an income below the poverty level as of 2009 is 27.8% which is 11.4% above the state average of 16.4% ("City-Data.com"). Due to the low poverty rate the people who make above average income are known and somewhat envied in the community. For me, I’m lucky enough to be born into a good family that doesn’t struggle to make ends meet.
